The DMV® SLH™ employs patented gripper pads to roll the edges of the contact lens inward and breaking the capillarity between the lens and the corneal surface. The patient can place the SLH on the lens by looking between the pads into a mirror, then squeezing the pads together to pop the lens free from the eye.
For insertion, the wearer places the moist lens into the little indentation at the narrow end of the SLH. Capillarity holds the lens in place while the wearer views through the lens into a mirror and places the lens onto the cornea.
The advantage of using the SLH is that long fingernails may be worn without fear of tearing a lens or scratching the eye. The patient may use the SLH to retrieve the lens from the case and then place the lens into the palm of the hand for cleaning and wetting.
Use of the SLH is much more hygienic than using fingers. The SLH is excellent for ladies with long fingernails or for people with rough hands.
